MRCLC, a brief history

Mount Rushmore Child Learning Center was founded by Miss Rafaela Roņo-Jarin in March 2000 when it opened its doors to 25 kids for its very first Summer Workshop.  The Department of Education granted the school with a permit to operate that same year, with an inital 10 students for Nursery.

Its humble beginnings can be traced back to its original location at the National Hi-Way in Tulay Bato, Binan, Laguna.  The foundress, then pregnant with her first son became the pioneer batch's class adviser, caregiver and security guard all rolled into one, at the same time attending classes to earn units in Education.  Inspite of the inconveniences of incomplete facilities, the school had a good start with the help of  parents and people in the neighboring areas.  The school grew in population and support staff, and is now a 2 floor building inside a subdivision in Hi-Way Homes, Platero.

A "PT turned PT" (Physical Therapist turned Pre-school Teacher) as she calls herself, Teacher Ella at present is based in Washington DC and she continues to manage the school everyday through her supportive sister, Virgie Roņo -Victa.  Teacher Ella recently finished her  Child Care Management short course from Penn Foster School.  She is also a certified American Red Cross volunteer with certifications on basic life support and adult, child and infant CPR.  With the wonders of internet technology, they are able to talk and discuss everyday concerns by going on-line, even conducting conferences with the teachers and staff.

The name Mount Rushmore was taken from the famous South Dakota's bust of four US presidents, namely:  George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln, with the vision of producing future leaders someday.  At the end of every productive year, the school awards the students who exemplify great leadership qualities among his peers the Little President's Leadership Award, on top of the Scholastic and Special Awards given to all students.

With the school's mission and vision slowly but surely being realized, MRCLC has evolved into a school determined to PREPARE THE LITTLE ONES FOR THE CHALLENGES OF THE BIG SCHOOLS!
